What is WKS and how does music distribution work?

70+ platforms across 190+ countries. That includes Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, TikTok and Instagram, plus regional stores across Asia, Africa and Latin America.

How long does it take for my release to go live?

Accepted Answer

Most releases are live within days, not weeks. Delivery from our side is immediate on the next delivery cycle; the remaining time is each store's own ingestion. There is no fixed delivery-cycle clock — stores can take from a few days up to about three weeks if you want the release eligible for editorial playlist pitching.

How does delivery to DSPs work?

After you submit a release it moves through a delivery request queue: pending_label_approval, then pending_org_approval, then approved, rejected or delivered. An approved release is sent to each DSP as its own delivery with its own status and last error. Takedown requests use the same queue. Delivery from WKS is immediate on the next delivery cycle; each store then ingests on its own clock. Lyrics, metadata and artwork edits also go out on the next delivery cycle.

What's the difference between an Artist, Label, and Organization account?

An Artist account distributes under one primary name. A Label account manages many artists on one roster, with per-artist catalogues, shared team access and a single consolidated payout. An Organization account runs distribution for multiple labels, with its own user management on top. Echo cannot convert a label into an organization. To upgrade or open an organization account, ask WKS from Support → New ticket or email distro@wksagency.com.

Do I keep the rights to my music?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You keep ownership of your masters and your compositions. WKS takes a distribution licence to deliver the release to the stores you select, and nothing more.

What audio file formats and quality does WKS accept?

Accepted Answer

WAV or FLAC, 16-bit or 24-bit, at 44.1 kHz or higher. We encode every store format from that master, so upload the highest quality file you have rather than an MP3.

What is an ISRC and a UPC, and does WKS provide them?

Accepted Answer

An ISRC identifies a recording and a UPC identifies a release. Both are how stores and royalty societies track what gets played. Bring your own to keep existing stats attached, or let us assign them free at upload. Either way the codes stay yours.

How do I upload a single, EP, or album?

Accepted Answer

Start a new release in the dashboard, add your audio files in track order, upload the cover art, then fill in the release metadata. The release type is set by the number of tracks and their total length, so you do not pick it yourself.

What are the cover art requirements?

Accepted Answer

A square JPG or PNG, at least 3000x3000 pixels, RGB. No blur, no store logos, no URLs and no social handles. Artwork breaking those rules is the most common rejection reason.

How do I add track metadata, contributors, and songwriter credits?

Accepted Answer

Each track takes a title, a version, its primary and featured artists, and its contributor credits. Add songwriters and producers per track rather than per release, because societies match payments on the recording, not the album.

How do I add lyrics to my release?

Accepted Answer

Paste the lyrics per track at upload. Plain text only, one line per sung line, with no timestamps and no section labels. Stores that support lyrics display pick them up on the next delivery cycle.

How do I enter Arabic metadata correctly (including Franco-Arabic)?

Accepted Answer

Enter the Arabic title in Arabic script in the primary title field, and put the Latin transliteration in the version or alternate title field rather than mixing both in one string. Franco-Arabic spellings belong in the transliteration, never in the primary field, so stores can match the release to the right artist.

How do I schedule a release date and set up a pre-order?

Pick any future date and we time delivery around it. Set the pre-order date before the release date to open pre-saves and pre-orders on the stores that support them.

Can I edit a release after it's been submitted or gone live?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Metadata and artwork edits are pushed to stores on the next delivery cycle. Audio itself cannot be swapped on a live release; that needs a takedown and a new release, which means a new ISRC and a reset of the stats attached to it.

Why was my release rejected or flagged?

Accepted Answer

The usual causes are artwork under spec or carrying logos and URLs, metadata that does not match the audio, an artist name that collides with an existing profile, or a sample or cover you do not have clearance for. The rejection notice names the specific reason and the release stays editable.

How do I set explicit or clean content flags?

Accepted Answer

Set it per track, not per release. Mark a track explicit if the lyrics contain profanity or explicit references. Mark it clean only if it is an edited version of an explicit original, and leave it as not explicit otherwise.

How do I claim and manage my Spotify and Apple Music artist profiles?

WKS does not create DSP accounts. Open a Spotify for Artists account (conta oficial artist / official artist profile) on Spotify, and Apple Music for Artists on Apple, after your first release is delivered. Claim both directly with the store. Once your first release is live, delivering with a linked profile ID keeps every later release landing on the same page instead of creating a duplicate.

How does "Provided to YouTube by WKS" branding work?

When we deliver to YouTube Music or YouTube Content ID, YouTube generates an Art Track and credits the delivering distributor as "Provided to YouTube by WKS" or "Provided by WKS LLC". That line is generated by YouTube, not by your label name. It cannot be changed to Solly Production or another company name from the dashboard. Facebook Content ID works the same way: the matching system credits the distributor account, not the label display name. Open a support ticket if you need WKS to review a Content ID provider setting.

How do I get an Official Artist Channel on YouTube?

You need a YouTube channel of your own and at least one release delivered to YouTube Music. Once both exist, request the channel through YouTube, which merges your Art Tracks and your own uploads into a single verified channel.

How do I pitch my track to editorial playlists?

Accepted Answer

Pitch through Spotify for Artists at least three weeks before the release date, while the release is still unreleased. One track per release, and the pitch is a description of the music and its context, not a sales case. Editorial decisions sit with the stores, never with a distributor.

Why does my release show different metadata on different stores?

Accepted Answer

Every store applies its own style rules to what it receives, and each ingests on its own schedule. Capitalisation, feature credits and genre names commonly differ. If a store shows something we did not send, that is a store-side correction and support can raise it with them.

How do I deliver to a specific store only, or take a release down from one store?

Accepted Answer

Select stores per release, and add or remove them later; changes are pushed on the next delivery cycle. Territory controls work the same way, country by country. A takedown from one store leaves the release live everywhere else.

How does content matching and copyright protection work?

Accepted Answer

Your recordings are registered with the content matching systems the stores run, so uploads that use your audio are identified automatically. Matching detects reuse of the recording itself, so it does not catch a re-recording or a cover performed by someone else.

How much of my royalties do I keep?

You keep 100%, on every plan. We never take a percentage of what your music earns. The plan fee is the only thing you ever pay us.

How and when does WKS pay out earnings?

Stores report on their own cycle, usually 45 to 60 days after the month of streaming. Once reported, earnings land in your balance and you withdraw on demand by bank transfer or PayPal.

How do I connect my payout method?

Accepted Answer

Add a bank account or a PayPal address in your account settings, then confirm it before your first withdrawal. The payout name has to match the account holder, which is what stops a withdrawal from being reversed by the receiving bank.

Where do I see my streaming stats and earnings reports?

Your dashboard covers streams by platform, earnings by track, geographic data, audience demographics and historical trends. Statements resolve to the store, the country and the month a stream was reported in, and export as CSV.

How do royalty splits between collaborators work?

Accepted Answer

Set a percentage split per release or per track and invite each collaborator by email. Once accepted, their share is separated as earnings are reported and each person withdraws their own balance, so nobody has to collect and forward payments manually.

Do you collect publishing or mechanical royalties?

Accepted Answer

Distribution covers the recording, which is where streaming and download royalties come from. Publishing and mechanical royalties are owed to the composition and are collected by a publisher or a collecting society, so register your works there as well as distributing with us.

Are there taxes or withholding I should know about?

Earnings are paid to you gross and how they are taxed depends on where you are resident. Some territories require withholding on royalties leaving the country, and the rate can drop under a tax treaty once the right form is on file. Your accountant should confirm what applies to you.

What subscription plans does WKS offer and what's included?

You can create an account and browse the whole platform before you subscribe — that is preview mode. Subscribing turns on releasing: distribution to every platform we support and 100% of your royalties. Higher tiers add more releases, more managed artists and team tooling, and Organization pricing is quoted against the size of the roster.

How do I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel my plan?

Change or cancel your plan in account settings at any time. An upgrade applies immediately. A downgrade or cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so nothing is cut off mid-cycle. Once a cancellation takes effect your account returns to preview mode.

What happens to my music if my subscription ends?

Your account returns to preview mode. Releases already delivered stay live and keep earning, and you keep your balance: withdrawals, support and takedown requests all stay open. What a lapsed subscription stops is creating new releases, and subscribing again turns that back on.

How do I manage users and labels under my Organization?

Accepted Answer

Add each label under the organization, then invite users and assign them to the labels they work on. The invitation token is in the invite email WKS sends after an owner or admin creates the invite from the Organization or Label team page — Echo cannot generate invitation tokens. Permissions are set per user, so someone can be limited to uploading for one label without seeing the roster's finances.

How do I reset my password or update my account details?

Reset your password from the sign-in screen and follow the emailed link. Email, display name and notification settings are all editable in account settings. Changing your account email does not change your artist name on stores.

How do I get notified about my release status?

Accepted Answer

Delivery, store approval and rejection all raise a notification, by email and in the dashboard. Choose which of those you want emailed in your notification settings; rejections are always sent, because they need an answer from you.

What are Echo credits and what are they for?

Accepted Answer

Echo credits are questions you can ask Echo, the catalog assistant in the WKS panels. Each asked question spends credits from your monthly or purchased balance. They are not streaming royalties and they do not change your payout. If you run out, buy a credit pack from the organization billing pages or wait for the monthly refill. Echo cannot spend or refund credits for you.

How do I change an artist name, or unblock a reserved name I deleted by mistake?

Accepted Answer

Echo is read-only and cannot rename an artist or release a reserved stage name. Edit the artist record in the Label or Organization panel. If the name is reserved because you deleted the artist by mistake, open Support → New ticket and say you owned that stage name and deleted it accidentally — only staff can clear the hold. Changing the name in WKS does not automatically retitle the artist page on Spotify or Apple Music; claim those profiles in Spotify for Artists / Apple Music for Artists.
